KaChat is now a family of apps

KaChat has grown into four phone apps, each doing one thing well, plus KaChat Desktop with everything in one place. One seed phrase works in all of them.

• KaChat: encrypted 1:1 and group chats, voice messages, calls, and KAS in chats
• KaPost: the on-chain social feed and public chat rooms
• KaPay: the Kaspa wallet, with Portfolio, Cold Storage and the .kachat marketplace
• KaPlay: on-chain chess, with 1v1 games, tournaments, bots and leaderboards
• KaChat Desktop: all of the above, in your browser at desktop.kachat.app

KaChat lives on the web

KaChat's home is now the web app at desktop.kachat.app. It runs on iPhone, iPad, Android, Mac, Windows and Linux, it's always the latest version, and you can add it to your home screen or computer so it opens like any other app.

• Customize Dock: choose what sits in the dock and what lives in the Kaspa Hub
• Request Payment: share a link that opens Send with the amount and note filled in, signed so people see who is asking
• Pay from any of your addresses: every send starts with From, and a chat payment from another address still shows in that chat
• KaPosts tips you can see: a tip count on every post, a Tips tab, and a bell beside Follow for someone's new posts
• KaChat Stats: Transactions and Fees tabs for the last 24 hours, 7 days or all time
• .kachat: names are open to everyone, and you can buy or claim them from any of your addresses with Buy From
• Calls: more reliable answering between devices
• Android gets a full redesign to match the iPhone app screen for screen

KaChat 5.2

Names, requests and profiles.

• .kachat names: claim a name like you.kachat, renew it, transfer it, list it for sale, buy one, or make an offer
• Message Requests: no more handshakes. Just send a message, and it lands in the other person's Message Requests to accept or decline
• KaChat profiles: your picture, banner and bio come from social accounts you already have, stamped to your address
• Address Book: save Kaspa addresses with a name and a note. KaChat no longer reads your phone's contacts
• A new chat + menu: send KAS with an exact amount and an encrypted note, and send photos, videos and voice messages on chain or through your Nextcloud
• KaChat Stats in the Kaspa Hub, showing KaChat's activity on Kaspa
• Portfolio: transfers, realized profit and loss for the year, and Nextcloud export and import

KaChat 5.1

Chess tournaments, profile links and privacy.

• Online Chess tournaments: brackets, scoring across the whole tournament, and leaderboards
• Share your profile: a kachat.app link that opens a chat with you
• Public chats: translate a message from its long-press menu, and see delivery status under your own messages
• Privacy: KaChat is blurred in the App Switcher, viewing a secret key needs your passcode, and Simple Mode replaces Child Mode
• Portfolio charts: all-time and year-to-date ranges, and prices compared against bitcoin
• Seed phrase: copy it from the viewer (cleared from the clipboard after 30 seconds) and paste it when importing

KaChat 5.0

Calls arrive.

• Voice and video calls in 1:1 chats, over Nextcloud Talk, entirely inside the app
• Calls ring like phone calls, with Picture in Picture and switching from voice to video
• kachat.app links: every shared post or profile is a kachat.app link that previews everywhere and opens in KaChat
• KaPosts: edit your own post or comment for two hours after posting, or delete it
• Public Chats looks like your chat list, with rooms as rows

• KaChat Stats: live counts of KaChat transactions on Kaspa, moved here from the iPhone app
• Install guides: step-by-step guides for adding KaChat to iPhone, iPad, Android and computers
• News: this page, with the latest KaChat version and the ones before it
• Feedback: a Feedback button at the top of every page. Write your feedback and it opens your email ready to send, with pictures or videos attached there if you like
• .kachat guide: what a name can be, what it costs, how claiming, renewal and grace work, and the marketplace
• Source code: the GitHub link on the home page lists the source code for the iPhone, Android and Desktop apps, the indexer, KaChat Bots and the .kachat contracts
